About Me

My goal of becoming a teacher began almost 20 years ago.  The passion and enthusiasm of my high school mathematics teacher was a very influential part of my decision.  After completing year 12, I enrolled in education at James Cook University, but later deferred.

Several medical administration jobs, 3 beautiful children and 1 very supportive husband later – I am on track to achieve my goal at the end of next year.

I am currently employed as a Teacher Aide at a P-12 school in Hervey Bay.  Even though I find the work/study/family balance challenging at times, I feel that the on the job experience I gain from my teacher aide position will be invaluable to me when I begin my teaching career.

A wise man once told me that ‘the more challenging the journey, the more valuable the experience’.  I am hoping that he is correct.

With some trepidation, I look forward to the collaborative learning experience ahead of me this semester.  I hope that you enjoy following and contributing to my journey.

Yours in ICT

  1. Hi Nell,
Your story is very similar to mine 🙂 I too was inspired by a high school teacher (however, mine was an English teacher). I have two children and an amazing husband and also work as a teacher’s aide at a school (on the Gold Coast). I am now nearly halfway through my Bachelor of Education Primary, and, so far, really enjoying this subject; even though it is challenging.
I look forward to experiencing this journey with you 🙂
